Road trips from Manali to Leh sound fun and adventurous, but oh there are treacherous roads, dozens of patchy connectivity, lack of infrastructure, traffic jams on overlooking steep cliffs…. OH NO!!! After a wait of 18 big years, finally the tunnel joining Manali with Lahaul-Spiti is now ready to go and was inaugurated on October 3rd 2020 by our Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji.

Entry and Exit point of Atal Tunnel

The Atal Tunnel provides smooth, all weather connectivity to Ladhak. The south portal is located at Rohtang Pass which is at the distance of 25km from Manali (alt.3060m).

The north portal is located near village Teling , Sissu in Lahaul Valley (alt.3071m).

World’s longest highway tunnel

Atal Tunnel is the world’s longest highway tunnel (9.02 km) and a big engineering solution to steep and risky pathways making the tunnel itself a historical and technical wonder that one should visit.

Horseshoe shaped, single tube, double lane, built with ultra-modern specifications and safety measures in Pir Panjal Range of Himalayas.
